The University of Bristol Staff Football Club officially launched in September 2011 and has gone from strength-to-strength since.
Staff football at the University of Bristol pre-dated 2011 with departmental and central lunchtime 5-a-side games organised frequently.
Our first-ever 11-a-side Staff Football match took place on Monday, 2nd September 2011, at the University’s Coombe Dingle Sports Complex.
The idea for a full 11-a-side game was first suggested by members of the regular 5-a-side group during a social gathering — and
became a reality on an overcast September evening.
The match was a huge success, sparking several more games that year and building real momentum for 11-a-side staff football at the University.
Our first ever competitive game took place on Monday 2nd July when we defeated Filton Colledge 2-1 at the Filton Wise Campus. The goalscorers Robbie Fox and Amr Al-Rafea.
Later in 2012 we launched our first ever kit featuring the iconic red and white colours of the University of Bristol. Friday 23rd November 2012 against Dandy Regents.
